Accomodation

Hong Kong is very well served by the full complement of expensive international hotel chains. In addition to these there are several hotels in the vicinity of the university campus (within walking distance):

Harbor Plaza Metropolis
There is a clutch of hotels along Mody Road: Hotel Nikko Hong Kong, Intercontinental Grand Stanford, and Kowloon Shangri-La

Cheaper options include

Salisbury road YMCA — it's a YMCA, and yet it is right next to the swankiest hotel in town. Also, the Anne Black YWCA is conveniently located near Kowloon Tong train station (a short journey from the university campus)
Chungking mansions. Numerous small and cheap "hotels". Google "chungking" and decide for yourself.
The university is building it's own hotel in which they claim to be a "teaching" hotel for students in hospitality and tourism. It's due to open in 2011. Don't ask me to explain it!
Consult your favourite website — less than $HK800/night is cheap. More than $HK1200/night you should expect something good.
